On BAT I’ve noticed a slight trend in several typically big ticket Porsches not meeting reserve. I’ve also noticed people seemingly putting together everything and anything Porsche and trying to sell it and lately there haven’t been as many takers. With market interest rates changing, will this affect speculation buyers? Take this 965 flat nose:

These have been going for astronomical prices. Just look at this list of previous and future sales.

There has been a lot of talk about a correction in the classic car market and it makes sense that a lot of well known collectors have unloaded some cars lately as this may have been the perfect time.

I hope the bubble is bursting as a lot of these prices have just been stupid.

I hope this is true for a lot of classic cars — the runup has gotten silly in a number of cases.

unfortunately I think the 993 and older gen Porsches are in the only ever going up stage. 964's were a dime a dozen ten to fifteen years ago.

Maybe it’s reached a point where the number of people who want a Porsche and could afford the absurd prices are dwindling, as they all already have one or have decided that they’re not worth the ludicrous price of entry.

This 964 flat nose should’ve gone for way more. Bat has whales on it.

Could be, there’s also seems to be a decline in the number of people willing to invest in these, of which there isn’t a limit yet.

Saving money. Waiting for the Renegade 924 era to hit.

What’s stupid about someone asking $15000 for a 912 without an engine, trans or fenders and crazy amounts of rust?

That sounds plausible, and like good news to me!

Then there’s this, where old Tucker Sno Cats are being pulled literally out of the weeds, being restored, and sold to multi-millionaires. Meanwhile, my friend has one that he probably bought 10 years ago for maybe $5k? That bubble is just beginning...

This sucks, because I seriously looked into a 993 just before getting married. Then I got distracted with a house, etc. and never looked back. There was one at a trusted local shop for sale, in good condition, etc. for I think $18k? Totally affordable at the time. But I think you’re right, I missed the window.

Those are awesome but you wouldn’t  think there would be a bubble in those. People are nuts
